17 EUROPEAN SOFAS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT!
With so many great furniture manufacturers out there it was very difficult to keep the list to 17! Therefore, I make it a point to visit the Maison et object show in Paris every year. An event that focuses on new designs and more and more up and coming furniture designers to make your little design heart sing! Including big names like Ligne Roset and Roche Bobois, with their creative furniture designs we have come to know and love.
In addition to these rock stars, today I’ll be sharing some of European’s leading and innovated furniture companies. So, whether you are an interior designer or a home owner looking for more options, let me start by saying...you’re welcome!
1.LIGNE ROSET - TOGO SOFA
It takes a contemporary sofa to a whole new level. Baby girl has curves and ripples we all can get behind! Entirely made of foam and with a removable cover, make this sofa not only architecturally stylish but comfortable!
2. ROCHEBOBOIS – BUBBLE CANAPÉ
Designer Sacha Lakic is also raising the bar when it comes to innovations designs. In fact, it’s a style that leaves many of us designers feeling giddy. Entirely made by hand you can appreciate the details and intricacies. It will have you running to the closest Roche Bobois just so you can feel the fully padded foam sofa!
3. CINNA – PAIPAI
When shopping for a sofa we look for comfort and style. Designer Lucidi Pevere created just that with the idea of a cocoon seat which is also visibly comfortable. “…The sofa named Pai-Pai in reference to the eponymous fan characterized by a round shape”
4. BUROV – LOTUS
This French company, which recently reissued one of their 70’s designed sofas, has given it a new life, putting it back on the market. A collaboration between the company and architect Gianfranco Grechi and Roberto Magrini this beautiful curvy sofa comes in many different fabrics and with its low back this then allows for more space visually. Note: Contact the company for more details.
The “Bob” sofa; which was introduced in 2017, is a furniture style that many designers and architects are gravitating towards today. I mean, one look and it will have you swooning over it as well. The module system can be made from small to large and can be even be seen without a back seating. In other words, “Bob offers the architonic freedom to either challenge or adhere to all types of spaces.”
6. NATUZZI - ICON SOFA
Designed by Michele Menescardi, as said well by Natuzzi “A contemporary-style tribute to Natuzzi tradition. Its soft, voluminous design and rounded appearance evoke the “visual comfort” that characterized Natuzzi style throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s.”
7. FRATELLI BOFFI - CENTURY SOFA
Sometimes, all you’re looking for is a classic look in any shades of blue that can really make a space stand out and this sofa does the trick!
8. FENDI CASA – LAKE COMO
“The classic line, soft textures and vivid color palettes of Fendi casa compete to perfection with the timeless beauty of Lake Como in Italy. “
9. EDRA – STANDARD
Made In Italy with advance technologies, this company patented their invention of “Gellyfoam®, which interpret the evolution of the human needs in the area of comfort”. The sofa backing cusions and arm reset can be adjusted in multiple positions depending on how many people you have seating, from one to several at the same time!
10. ZANOTTA – HIRO
Designed by Damian Williamson has this light image, and has removable covers in either leather or fabric. The soft curves still give this sofa a modern touch in any space, not to mention just a change in fabric this beautifully designed sofa transforms from a Scandinavian boho design into a sleek city CEO lifestyle.
11. CASSINA – BOWY-SOFA
Designed by Patricia Urquiola this modular sofa can be arrange in multiple direction and seating preferences depending on lifestyle needs. I do like the option of the curved ottoman.
12. B&B ITALIA – ATOLL
Like all these sofas this one too is very thought out and with the traditional custom roller cushions with clean lines gives this sofa the perfect details to any configuration.
13. SABA – ESSENTIAL
Designed with the Scandinavian clean lines and paired with Italian quality makes this another leading sofa. I am all over the rose color option and who else could use a little blush in our lives?
14. FAMA – NADINE SOFA
This contemporary sofa just so happens to come in neutral tones, and I for one am digging the nacarat color. The designed by Felix Lopez Gil gives the word sofa a whole new meaning. It’s not just a piece of furniture—it brings a piece of our every day-to-day life into our homes.
15. ENTHNICRAFT - N501
When you just want that contemporary yet classic leather sofa without too much fluff, this quality furniture designed by Jacques Deneef embodies all the above.
16. LEOLUX – ELIAS
As the company says this is an interior jewel, designed with a deep sofa and curved lines offered in both leather or fabric. A sofa that is a perfect fit for residential or corporate design.
17. VITRA – MARIPOSA
An older model compared to these newly designed sofas I have listed, however it is still is a classic choice when choosing a sofa. Mariposa means butterfly in Spanish and I can see why the name was given. It’s wing-like arm rest, which adjustment mechanism along with the backrest allows this sofa to make you feel as if you just landed on to the horizon.
